Using my blog to try and make the world a better place. If I can make someone forget their troubles for a few minutes a day, it's all worth it.

I watch the ripples change their size, but never leave the stream of warm impermanent sand. So the days flow through my eyes but still the days seem the same. And these children that you spit on as they try to change their world are immune to your consultations. They're quite aware of what they're going through.

Post-'70s remembrance:

In 1988, when I was working at the Fore 'N Aft Motel in North Truro Massachusetts, I was sitting in the office with the General Manager and the head housekeeper. We were discussing business matters, but the GM was sitting at his desk with his nose buried in the newspaper, basically ignoring us and somewhat oblivious as to what was going on around him. This really annoyed me. So I set his newspaper on fire. I lit the bottom of the newspaper with my Bic lighter, and watched the flames slowly creep up the paper. He didn't notice until the paper was half in flames. He had to run outside into the parking lot to stamp it out. It took a lot to grab his attention. Needless to say if there's one thing I can't stand is being ignored..

That's one way to get attention! And yeah, being ignored is annoying.

So, what did you do after your career in the hospitality business came to a sudden end?

I have a feeling people either love you or hate you.
