What's Happening!
My favorite episode was when Dee was chosen to do a commercial for a hamburger chain, and she took one bite and says "This tastes like jackass meat!" I still crack up. I remember another episode when she says she wants a raise on her allowance, and her brother Roger says: "you get a quarter a week and that's plenty". Sure would suck to have a brother like that guy..

Why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why....
... did I NOT purchase every single one of these things (in triplicate) back when they cost two dollars, or at least keep the ones I had... if only I'd known back then that some of these would sell for over $150 MOC today... of course if I'd told my folks back then they'd be that expensive in the future they'd have thought I was crazy.. so I blame them. It's their fault.

These commercials ran all throughout the 70's. She was one bad mother... I'm not sure if they still make this stuff or not..

When I was a kid (circa the time my profile pic was taken) soda machines looked like the above pic. Mom worked at the tax assesor's office in our town hall, and in the building was a machine just like the one above. You'd deposit the 45 cents, then open the door and pick your soda. I always had the urge to pull more than one out, but the machine just happened to be in front of the police office, and I didn't want to get arrested for stealing sodas (well that and having to explain to mom how I got 3 or 4 sodas for 45 cents).... I remember there was Tab, Fanta, Dr. Pepper, Coca Cola, 7-Up, Root Beer, and Orange. Also, all the bottles were glass, with bottle caps that needed to be pried off with a bottle opener that came on the machine. There was no such thing as a plastic soda bottle.

Captain Caveman:
Debuting almost the same time as Charlie's Angels, Hanna Barbera came out with a new cartoon: Captain Caveman. He was a caveman frozen in ice and gets de-thawed in the mid-late 70's. Even though he was naked, he fought crime, with the help of his three "Teen Angels". I don't remember the gals that well, except I believe the blonde was an airhead (for some reason on TV the blondes are always the airheads)...

Speaking of haunted houses:
One of my all-time favorite movies is The Ghost And Mister Chicken. I could watch it over and over. It was a great Saturday afternoon TV movie. I must've seen it half a dozen times. I really miss Don Knotts..
....on a side-note, I'm really digging this orange and yellow combo... it kind of reminds me of that pineapple-orange soda I used to drink as a kid. Remember pineapple-orange? I don't think they make that anymore..

Walt Disney book-of-the-month club by Random House:
My grandmother (the good one) signed me up for this, and I received one of these books every month, from '74 - '76. I had the above 2 pictured (1975) as well as 22 others. I always looked forward to getting these in the mail back then. Mom still has them up in her attic, and I keep meaning to snag them, but I keep forgetting to take them, although I'm not quite sure what I'd do with them now....

How could I have FORGOTTEN this stuff????!!!
Barbapapa:
Barbapapa was a cartoon that ran in the early-mid 70's. It was about a hippie blob-family that could morph and change their shapes. They lived in sort of a habitrail-type commune. I don't remember if this was on Saturday mornings or Sunday. The show also featured two human children whom I'd forgotten about until I saw the above pic for the first time. I don't really remember any episodes. It was kind of a bland, non-eventful cartoon..

Human kindess is overflowing:
a pale dead moon in a sky streaked with gray.
Human kindness is overflowing,
And I think it's gonna rain today.
Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles,
frozen smiles to chase love away.
Human kindness is overflowing,
And I think it's gonna rain today.
Bright before me, the signs implore me:
Help the needy and show them the way.
Human kindess is overflowing,
And I think it's gonna rain today.
