The 3 Degrees: The Destiny's Child of the '70s..
Using my blog to try and make the world a better place. If I can help someone forget their troubles for a few minutes a day, it's all worth it.

Misc. Remembrance:
Seems like back in '76 / '77, everyone was wearing Nike sneakers. Except me. My feet were still growing, and my folks said they were too expensive for shoes that I'd grow out of in a few months. They looked good on Farrah, though.. but then again didn't everything....

You can't have it all:
I guess a lot of kids had a Dapper Dan doll. Apparently he was instrumental in teaching them to learn how to dress. I didn't have a Dapper Dan doll, so how in the world I learned to dress myself is beyond me..

Saturday Morning Classic:
The '70s wouldn't have been the same without Schoolhouse Rock. In my senior year in High School, one of our history assignments was to memorize the preamble of the constitution. Everyone aced it because of this SHR segment.

Misc. Remembrance:
In '78, mom was a member of a bowling league, and every Tuesday night she'd drop me off at my aunt Nancy's house, and I'd hang out with my cousin Karla for the night. We'd hang out in her room and listen to records and play a board game, then she'd call her girlfriends, then we'd watch Three's Company on her little black and white television set in her bedroom. When it was over, she'd turn the TV off then we'd go to sleep. When she'd turn the TV off, the picture would reduce to a little white dot, which would stay on for about 15 minutes. I'd watch the dot 'til I fell asleep. I'm guessing they don't make black-and-white televisions any more...

Lazy Sunday afternoon:
Yesterday was kind of a lazy day, so I watched "The Ghost And Mr. Chicken" on YouTube. I haven't seen that flick since the late '70s. I downloaded and watched the whole thing, but I found a clip of my favorite part: when Luther spends the night in the haunted house (the above clip). The movie was just as awesome as I remember it. I didn't realize that 2 cast members from Bewitched were in it: Dick Seargeant (the second Darren) and Sandra Gould (the second Gladys Kravitz).
