Using my blog to try and make the world a better place. If I can help someone forget their troubles for a few minutes a day, it's all worth it.

Three is a magic number - Ya it is, it's a magic number:

A man and a woman had a little baby
Yeah they did
And there were three in the family
And that's a magic number.

The times they are a changin':

I remember how, back in the '70s, the debate was Coke vs. Pepsi. Things sure have spiraled out of control since then...

When art imitates life:

When I was a kid, it was always a drag when my folks called me in from playing outside to take a bath. I'd be having a great time playing with the neighborhood kids, then my folks would call me in. Totally ruined the day.

Pet Peeve:

If I had to pick the one color combination that repulses me most, it's yellow and brown. I've always been turned off by it. I like yellow, and I like brown, but together it just irritates me.

Getting Tan:

Being tan was huge back in the day. I know it will always be in vogue, but back then we weren't aware of the risk involved in getting too much sun. People even used baby oil to speed up the process. Cartoon theatre booths:

These were everywhere back in the day, but I never used one. I saw them mostly in stores by the checkout lines, probably so parents could send their kids off to the booth while they waited in line to pay for their merchandise to get them out of their hair. Often I'd ask for a quarter to watch a cartoon, but my folks always said "no". Out of principle "there's no way in the world they'd pay a quarter for cartoons I could watch at home for free". I can see their point now, but back then it just seemed like they were so damn unreasonable.

Misc. Remembrance:

When I was around 8 years old, I'd be watching Gilligan's Island and think how cool it would be to be stranded on a deserted island. Nothing to do all day but hang out under a palm tree and swim whenever I wanted. I'd live on coconuts and wouldn't have to go to school. And my parents wouldn't be there so I couldn't get bossed around. I wondered if I'd really be able to do it, but I figured if the seven castaways could make a go of it, how hard could it be..
