Does anyone else remember...
... the episode of The Partridge Family where a skunk somehow got onto the tour bus and everyone got sprayed??? And they all took baths in tomato juice to get the smell off???? Well, for the record, my dog got skunked a few years ago, and tomato juice didn't work at all. Just sayin'.

Don't you hate...
"Cherry Tree" by 10,000 Maniacs:
"Over your shoulder, please don't mind me, If my eyes have fallen onto your magazine. Oh, I've been watching and wondering, Why your face is changing with every line you read. For all those lines and circles to me a mystery. Eve pulled down the apple and gave a taste to me. If she could it would be wonderful, But my pride is in the way. I cannot read to save my life, I'm so ashamed to say. I live in silence, afraid to speak, Of my life of darkness because I cannot read."

Maraschino Cherries:
When I was a kid, I fell in love with Maraschino cherries. My folks bought them for their Manhattans, so I was only allowed a couple. When I asked for more they'd basically tell me that "I'd die if I ate the whole jar". I've lived on my own for 22 years, and I'm just realizing that to this day I've yet to buy a jar of maraschino cherries like subconsciously I'm convinced that I'd die or something because I shouldn't have them....

Wacky Packs:
I haven't done many posts on Wacky Packs. They were everywhere back in the day. I had one friend who was into these big-time, but not many of my other friends got too into them. The above two pics are from the 1972 series. I'm not sure about the wrapper shot, but I found all the pics HERE.

Game Shows:
In the mid-late 70s, I watched alot of game shows in the Summer when there really wasn't alot else to do (anyone else out there who grew up in Raynham Massachusetts between '76 to '80 knows what I mean). My favorite was probably The Gong Show. Hollywood Squares was another favorite, but mom couldn't stand the show so I never watched it. I never missed The Price Is Right, and once that one was over I basically got kicked out of the house for the rest of the day until supper. Even though they tended to be boring as hell, looking back, sometimes I do miss those old Summer vacations.

Born too late:
Back in the late 70's, I really wanted to go to Studio 54, but of course I was too young back then. And I knew that trying to get my folks permission just wasn't an option....Image courtesy of Sans Pantaloons.
Anyone remember these guys?:
I remember the cupcake guy and Twinkie The Kid, although I only remember the twinkie's name because it's written on his neck kerchief. I'm assuming the other's "Captain Cupcake", but I'm lost on the others. I'm not even sure of the date on the above characters. I think the guy on the right is a fruit pie (a magic fruit pie...) and the other's a Swiss Roll. I just hope things don't go so bad in my life that I have to be rescued by a Twinkie, that'd be a tough one to explain to anybody..

Cat Scratch Fever / 1977
My cousins had the above back in the day. I was more of an Eagles and Fleetwood Mac fan (hard rock was never really my thing). Plus, I found the album cover to be slightly on the disturbing side.... although, with that said, millions of people did like it. Ted sold a ton of these back then. I don't know if this was his best seller, but if not it came pretty close.

Yes, I have been successfull....
Never heard of it:
I was doing an image search for "bad 70's hair". I found the above 2 ads. I noticed they mentioned "Marantz". I didn't know exactly what "Marantz" was, so I did a search and found they were a company that made stereo systems back in the day. The stereo model featured was the 1974 MARANTZ 2325 MONSTER. I must say, even though it's outdated technology, I think it still looks pretty cool.

Does anyone else remember:
Carol Wayne. She was a bubbly, ditzy blonde that appeared on The Tonight Show several times in the early 70's. I think she even hosted the show once or twice. She also appeared on various game shows. She passed away in 1985 under extremely questionable circumstances. How sad it is that the worst things often happen to the nicest people.
