Using my blog to try and make the world a better place. If I can help someone forget their troubles for a few minutes a day, it's all worth it.

I watch the ripples change their size, but never leave the stream of warm impermanent sand. So the days flow through my eyes but still the days seem the same. And these children that you spit on as they try to change their world are immune to your consultations. They're quite aware of what they're going through.

I was just thinking about:

The Ty-D-Bol Man. He was the guy who used to go boating in people's toilets. Just once it would've been so cool to see someone flush the toilet on him, but it never happened. The whole ad campaign seems so ridiculous in hindsight, but back then we didn't really think anything of it. I suppose I could've spent more time looking for decent pics, but really it's just a dude in a toilet..
On a side-note, it's amazing how much that guy looks like Mitt Romney..

That made me think about the Drano man. Whenever you had a clog, his voice would shake the house like an 8.0 quake!

I SO wanted to flush the toilet on the Tidy Bowl man! He seemed like such a Yacht Club snob...

MnMom: Who knows?? Maybe is was Mitt..

Jayne: Haha yeah I remember.

Scandy: But then again his boat would've clogged the septic line.

Personally, I can think of much better places to go boating than my neighbor's toilet.

I used to want my dad to lift the lid so I could look for him like the Purina chuck wagon. Now I would just take a nasty chili cheese dump and flush hard.

I remember the Chuck Wagon! I always hoped my German Shepherd, Queenie would find him!
Ah, stop-motion animation.

He was one of the country club snobs in Caddyshack

Goggles and Jayne: I loved those Chuckwagon commercials.

Smash: He looks like he would've been perfect for the role.

Even as a kid, I thought that was disgusting.

Well yeah it was.. but at least it was always a clean toilet..

joe said...

.. that's gotta count for something..

It IS better than having a dirty bowl. That's one of my pet peeves.
Off topic: I put up my lovely aluminum tree yesterday. I'm dreaming of a retro Christmas!!

joe said...

I love aluminum trees. Especially with the colored-light-base.
On a side-note, a character on Mary Hartman Mary Hartman got impaled to death by an aluminum Christmas tree...

I have the rotating color wheel with it, too!
My grandmother had one that she put electric lights on every year- a BIG no no! But she never got hurt.
I have been looking for Bubble Lights but havent' been able to find them- not even on Ebay!!!

joe said...

I can see how electric lights would be not optimal.. she was one brave gal.

Never underestimate a determined Swede.
She is still a tall, angry woman at 87!

I miss my grandmas. They've both passed on.

joe said...

... although I have to say neither of them were crazy enough to put electric lights on an aluminum Christmas tree ;^)

I miss my grandma on my mom's side. She taught me to cook, sew , embroider, and be an old-fashioned lady! I've never forgotten that!

joe said...

Well she did a good job, little lady!

champagnejayne said...

Thanks! I'm blushing!
I think I was the only girl in my 2nd grade class picture that crossed her legs correctly. ( At the ankles!)

Sara Lee owns Ty-D-Bol these days. YUM!

champagnejayne said...

Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee... Not even the TyDBowl man.

joe said...

Kim and Jane: Sara Lee... hahaha
In junior high the ongoing joke was "nobody doesn't lick sara lee"...

champagnejayne said...

You don't even want to know what we said about the Carvel "Cookie Puss"....

joe said...

Um, yeah, actually I do.. ;^)

champagnejayne said...

I don't think any kid could pass that up!

Actually, there was an episode.. I think it was of the carol Burnette Show... where the Tidy Bowl man showed up and (Carol Burnette??) flushed him!!

Maybe someone can find it. I'll check Youtube.

joe said...

I hope his boat didn't clog the line..

One of the recurrent themes in the
"Carol Burnett Show" was the commercial world.

This is where the wife would wake up and all the popular commercials of the day would happen to her.

In one segment you heard the "Tidy Bowl" and watched as Carol flushed him away, picking up an empty boat.

I laughed myself sick on that one.
