Using my blog to try and make the world a better place. If I can help someone forget their troubles for a few minutes a day, it's all worth it.

I watch the ripples change their size, but never leave the stream of warm impermanent sand. So the days flow through my eyes but still the days seem the same. And these children that you spit on as they try to change their world are immune to your consultations. They're quite aware of what they're going through.

The A&W Root Beer Stand:

When I was a kid mom used to take me to the A&W in Taunton, 232 Broadway (pictured above). I'm not sure when it was re-named "Henry's" (they must've changed it long after the last time I went there). To be honest, I didn't care for A&W because at the time I hated root beer and I would've rather been at McDonald's. On a side-note, I'd love to have one of those take-home mugs again...

Taunton I thought was in MA? I visited friends in that town while attending college in Fitchburg, MA.

Anyway, Here in NJ the big root beer is Stewart's. They have stands and sell hot dogs in the warmer seasons. It's really pretty cool actually :) Funny, you said you didn't really like root beer as a kid -- I've never been a fan of it myself, but my hubby LOVES it!

Yes, Taunton Mass. Even though I'm originally from Hyannis, I grew up in Raynham which is the town next to Taunton. It was only a 15 minute drive from our house. Thinking back, I'll have to say they had the best french fries.

We had one in my hometown, and there's STILL one about 10 minutes from me now. I love that stuff. And yes, in the summer you can still sit in your car and they'll bring it out and hang the tray on your car window.

I love A & W. I have several mugs, you can see some at my blog. There's still a few in Colorado.

We still have one here. My kids love going there to get a foot long and that frosted mug of root beer. We make sure that we go every single summer. I even think that the girls are on roller skates.

I would've LOVED a trip to the A&W stand when I was a kid. Unfortunately, my parents were health nuts. :(

I loved me some A&W as a kid and still do. That frosty mug of root beer taste good anytime of year. What have a problem with are their mascots. I hat the Root Bear. He's a BEAR yet wears a touque and a thick sweater at the hottest time of the summer. And what about Chubby Chicken? Basically he is avertising the canibalization of his people. No No No - eat them he says...not me...I am the chicken you like...eat my momma hear. Sell outs.

Mom: I believe there's still one in Harwich Mass. right across from the trampolines, at least there was 15 years ago... wow I just realized now how long it's been since I've seen it, so who knows if it's still there or not..

C: Mmm cream soda... love it..

Retro: I'd hate to think that they're all gone. I'm glad some are still left.

Redbonegirl: I don't think ours ever had girls on skates when I was around.. but we did have waitresses that came to the car.

Sorry Jm!

Cal: You lost me on the chicken but one of the google results was a stuffed A&W bear. I don't remember the bear for some reason.

When I was a child, root beer was my drug of choice. And when coupled with ice cream to form a root beer float, I lost all sense of control.

We didn't have one of these but I do like root beer and root beer floats!

Max: Hey, I understand. Completely.

Jim: All this talk about root beer floats... I may make one someday soon. I also like ice coffee floats with coffee ice cream.

I've only been to one and it was in San Rafael, CA and it was awesome. I believe it is still there in it's original old school building.

Recently I saw A&W root beer at the grocery store in a 2 litre bottle. I haven't looked for it since so I'm not sure if they still sell it.

In 1975, there was a trampoline court across from the Harwich A&W, and the guy who was on the trampoline next to the one my cousin was on, was doing flips and he landed on his face on the frame and busted some bones. They took him away in the abulance. It wasn't pretty.
